Central nervous system (CNS) activity

In 1993 and 1994, Okugawa et al. researched how the leaves of Aquilaria agallocha affect brain monoamines (norepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin) as well as EEG waves in rats with Alzheimer’s disease. Aquilaria agallocha leaves extract was effective in restoring the monoamine levels of brain regions to normal levels. The agarospiral and Jinkoh-eremol from Aquilaria agallocha had a beneficial effect on the central nervous system in mice. The injection of these substances into the mice reduced spontaneous locomotion that was induced by methamphetamine and apomorphine.
