Reforestation

Sustainability | Cultivation | Induction | Harvesting | Reforestation

Reforestation is one of the most critical sustainability practices in the agarwood industry. It ensures that for every tree harvested, more are planted to maintain ecological balance and future supply.

  1. Seedling Production
    • Use tissue culture or nursery propagation to mass-produce disease-free Aquilaria seedlings.
    • Maintain genetic diversity by sourcing from multiple parent trees.
  2. Tree Replacement Policy
    • For every 1 tree harvested, plant 3–5 new seedlings.
    • Ensures exponential plantation growth over time.
  3. Agroforestry Integration
    • Plant agarwood with nitrogen-fixing species (Erythrina, Gliricidia, Sesbania) to improve soil fertility.
    • Intercrop with spices, herbs, or fruit trees for added income.
  4. Habitat Restoration
    • Reforest degraded lands with Aquilaria to bring back biodiversity.
    • Prevent soil erosion, improve water retention, and sequester carbon.
  5. Sustainability Certifications
    • Engage in CITES Export Permit or equivalent certifications.
    • Traceability programs + blockchain for proof of ethical sourcing.
  6. Community Involvement
    • Local farmers trained and incentivized to plant & maintain seedlings.
    • Shared profit models ensure long-term care of reforested areas.

Outcome: Continuous resin supply, restored ecosystems, and improved farmer livelihoods.
