SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for preparing and applying BarIno™ ResinRush™, a chemical agarwood inoculant that uses Ferric Chloride (FeCl₃) and Sodium Chloride (NaCl) to stimulate resin formation in Aquilaria trees.

This formulation works by inducing oxidative stress (via FeCl₃) and osmotic stress (via NaCl) to activate defense-related metabolic pathways, triggering artificial agarwood resin production.

FeCl₃ + NaCl Resin Induction Formula

I. OBJECTIVE

To prepare and apply a dual-stress agarwood inoculant to stimulate high-quality resin production through chemical means.

II. FORMULATION (Per 1 Liter Solution)

IngredientFunctionAmount
Ferric Chloride (FeCl₃), anhydrous or hexahydrateOxidative stress inducer20–25 g
Sodium Chloride (NaCl, common salt)Osmotic stress inducer30–40 g
Di-ionized WaterSolvent/Baseto make 1,000 mL

Optional: Add 0.1% Tween 20 or Tween 80 for better tissue penetration.

III. MATERIALS NEEDED

  • Digital scale (±0.1 g precision)
  • Clean 1-L glass or HDPE container
  • Glass stirrer or non-metallic spoon
  • Distilled or deionized water
  • Measuring cylinder
  • Personal Protective Equipment (gloves, goggles, lab coat)
  • Labeling tape and marker

IV. PREPARATION PROCEDURE

  1. Prepare Base Water:
    • Measure ~800 mL di-ionized water into a non-metallic container.
  2. Dissolve FeCl₃:
    • Weigh 20–25 g of Ferric Chloride, slowly add to water while stirring.
    • Stir until fully dissolved. (FeCl₃ is corrosive and exothermic when dissolved.)
  3. Add Sodium Chloride:
    • Weigh 30–40 g NaCl, add to solution and stir until fully dissolved.
  4. Add Surfactant (Optional):
    • Add 1 mL of Tween 20 or Tween 80 to enhance tissue penetration.
  5. Adjust Volume:
    • Add di-ionized water to make up exactly 1,000 mL.
  6. Label and Store:
    • Label container with product name, batch, and preparation date.
    • Store in a cool, dark place. Use within 3–6 months for optimal effectiveness.
