The aqueous and methanol extracts, as well as dry powder of leaf and bark of Aquilaria gagallocha were tested for antimicrobial activity against pathogenic bacteria including Shigella flexneri, bacillus brevis, yeast, dermatophytes and helminths by a disk-diffusion assay.Indian scientists evaluated the anti-microbial effects of different leaves from the Aquilaria agallocha plant against various pathogenic microbes, including Bacillus cereus, Candada albicans, Streptococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E. coli and Aspergillus niger. They found that the aqueous extract from the leaves effectively inhibited the growth of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus.
