Agarwood Opportunities in the Philippines

Agarwood is still new in the Philippines, we endeavor to organized 10 Regional Agarwood Agriculture Cooperatives and federate them through Oud Philippine Growers Federation of Agriculture Cooperative (OPGFAC) as the National Agarwood Federation together with Agarwood Growers Association of the Philippines (AGAP) Incorporated to work on the DEVELOPMENT OF AGARWOOD INDUSTRY IN THE PHILIPPINES.

This is in collaborations with Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Agriculture (DA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

DOST Undersecretary for Research and Development, Dr. Leah J. Buendia requested the DOST-FPRDI to lead the Agarwood Technical Working Group (A-TWG) with Academic Institutions like De La Salle University (DLSU), Central Luzon State University (CLSU) and Cavite State University (CvSU) and with on-going collabs with Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISATU), Isabela State University (ISU) and Visayas State University (VSU).

DLSU developed the Nano Material Base Inoculum last year and they are about to inoculate some trees in Agarwood farm in Tanza, Cavite for testing this February 2025. We are projected to harvest inoculated trees in the last quarter of this year for chemical testing analysis of Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS) to standardized the qualify of products for export to Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain as the major consumers of Agarwood Chips.
