Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

Product Name: BarIno™ TriSalix™
Type: Triple-Salt Chemical Inoculant for Agarwood Induction
Active Ingredients: Ferric Chloride (FeCl₃), Magnesium Chloride (MgCl₂), Sodium Chloride (NaCl)
Form: Water-based injectable solution
Batch Volume: 1 Liter

I. PURPOSE

To prepare a stable, effective aqueous formulation of BarIno™ TriSalix™, a non-biotic, abiotic stress inoculant that mimics natural resin-inducing environmental stresses (oxidative, osmotic, ionic) to trigger agarwood formation in Aquilaria trees.

III. FORMULATION PROCEDURE

  1. Prepare Work Area:
    • Sanitize all containers, tools, and workspace.
    • Wear PPE (gloves, goggles, apron).
  2. Initial Dissolution:
    • In a 1-liter capacity glass beaker or flask, pour 700 mL of distilled water.
    • Begin stirring gently using a magnetic stirrer or sterile glass rod.
  3. Add Sodium Chloride (NaCl):
    • Add 15.0 grams slowly.
    • Stir until fully dissolved (2–3 minutes).
  4. Add Magnesium Chloride (MgCl₂·6H₂O):
    • Add 7.5 grams gradually.
    • Stir thoroughly until the solution clears (3–5 minutes).
  5. Add Ferric Chloride (FeCl₃·6H₂O):
    • Slowly add 7.5 grams.
    • This may cause a slight yellowish or light brown hue.
    • Stir for 5–10 minutes until fully dissolved.
  6. Top-Up with Water:
    • Add distilled water to reach exactly 1000 mL.
    • Mix thoroughly for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Check pH (optional):
    • Ideal pH range: 4.5–5.5
    • Adjust slightly with dilute NaOH or HCl if needed.
  8. Bottle Immediately:
    • Transfer into sterilized amber glass or HDPE bottles.
    • Seal tightly to prevent oxidation.

IV. STORAGE & STABILITY

  • Storage Temp: 15–30°C, away from sunlight
  • Shelf Life: 6 months (unopened), 30 days (opened)
  • Container: Amber bottle or opaque HDPE
  • Signs of instability: Precipitation, foul odor, or discoloration
